Remarks & Notes

A Santa Fe intermodal train slows for the Rock Island crossing at Joliet, IL. The westbound train is on the Santa Fe mainline out of Chicago, shared at this point with Illinois Central Gulf. Power includes a former passenger unit, a GE U30CG cowled unit, repainted for freight service after Amtrak's creation in 1971.
