High over Butternut Creek. US 152 trails a steamy, white plume against a cobalt blue sky as she rumbles across the recently rebuilt Butternut Creek Trestle on the run back to Crossroads Village. This is the largest bridge on the roughly 4 mile Huckleberry Railroad and it's located just about a 9-iron shot from the Eastern Turning Loop. Until recently, this particular photo would have been next to impossible because of thick woods and brush on the south side of this bridge. Thanks to the Huckleberry Railroad Crew, a lot of that brush has been cleared, opening up a pretty spectacular view of the passing trains. In addition, the personnel walkway and safety fence are located on the north side of the bridge, providing an unobstructed view on the sunny side. I wonder if that was by design? :)
