One of the more well-known publicity photos of the Shasta Daylight was taken on this curve. At about the same time of day as the Shasta would have passed by, a westman heads for Dunsmuir. The trailing unit, which was one of the last 8800s running by 1988, is riding on trucks that were probably swapped out from a unit painted for the SPSF merger.
