Passenger Service to Two Harbors. DM&IR #332 charges north through the small town of Larsmont, at 30 mph track speed, hauling the North Shore Scenic Railroad's 10AM Passenger Special bound for Two Harbors, MN.
The second day of our photo charter with the 332 was to have featured a passenger consist and sun much of the day. Alas, it was not to be as the 332 developed a mechanical issue just before departure and was unable to make the trip. Unfortunately, Day 2 was a diesel trip. :( The North Shore Scenic Steam Team was able to make repairs in about 24 hrs, and the 332 was available to haul the line's 10AM Passenger Train on Saturday, September 7th. Instead of the normal passenger consist, the railroad substituted the historic DM&IR cars that would have been used on the charter, and the result was a pretty photogenic train, which many of the charter patrons wisely chose to chase.
