Remarks & Notes
One of Amtrak's United Aircraft Turbotrains poses at Washington Union Station while working what had to be its strangest assignment, the Washington-Parkersburg (WV) Potomac Special over the B&O. The train was assigned this relatively low speed run for a few months in early 1972 to curry favor with powerful congressman Harley Staggers. Original slide from my collection, photographer unknown.
