A schnabel car move crosses the Santa Ana River into Anaheim. The J-SDGDAG9 consists of two locomotives, an equipment flat, caboose, spacer, the schnabel car itself, another spacer and caboose. It's carrying a load of nuclear waste out of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station below San Clemente bound for Utah. This move is already well into its second crew by the time they exited Metrolink rails at Atwood, a couple miles north of here. Their delays caused havoc to the morning Amtrak and Metrolink traffic, which luckily was already reduced due to the Holiday and COVID (which is largely why this move was run today in the first space).
