No doubt one of the most unique railroad operations in the United States, the Mount Washington Cog Railway was a must hit on my recent vacation to the area. Seen here ascending toward the 6,300 foot summit of the namesake mountain, one of their two operating steam locomotives, 'Ammonoosuc' #2, gives shove to our train as we are about 2/3 of the way up.
With many restrictions in place due to COVID in regards to seating on these train rides, it allowed for many photos, such as this one, where there would normally be passengers blocking this view. As we ascended the mountain, the trees began to disappear, while a peek out the windows provided a beautiful view of the valley below shrouded in peak fall foliage, with lots of oranges and yellows present.
