Remarks & Notes

An eastbound Santa Fe freight crosses over itself as it winds around the famous Tehachapi Loop on its climb from the San Joaquin Valley to the summit in the town of Tehachapi. Santa Fe SD45 5596, SD40 5007, SD26 (a rebuilt SD24) 4652 and an unidentified SD45-2 are more than capable of getting this train over the mountain. (Walong, California – July 15, 1973)
