Fresh Paint on the Biggest of the Big In 2021, Steamtown completed a cosmetic restoration of Union Pacific 'Big Boy' 4012 and placed it on exhibit alongside the parking lot. It makes quite an impression, as it's the first locomotive that visitors encounter as they drive into the park. However, its location makes it very difficult to photograph when the sun is out. Believe it or not, this photo took some planning. I waited for a cloudy day and used a long telephoto to accentuate No. 4012's articulated front engine set. I'm happy with the result.
