On a gloomy Sunday afternoon in Downtown Aurora, the eastbound Southwest Chief sprints over Galena Blvd on the 2,000 foot long elevated trackage splitting through the heart of downtown, which was completed in the 1920’s. Two P42DC’s, the lead locomotive being the new Phase I heritage unit lead the 1 hour late ‘Chief’ onto the last miles until its destination of Chicago.
