The Illinois Central called. They want their line back!
Illinois Central SD70’s have found their way back on the old IC Freeport Division. Snow begins to fall on a late night while M338 treks east into Hillside heading over the Butterfield Rd bridge with two IC SD70’s at the front, being back on home turf. Illinois Central remains still are littered all over the line, which is now the CN Freeport Subdivision. Many bridges between Hillside and Riverside still say “ICRR” on them back from IC days, including this one (Butterfield Road). What once was a daily sight through the Chicago Suburb of Hillside is now very hard to repeat again in 2022, 24 years after the Illinois Central was taken over by CN In 1998.
