A worker hand washes the windows of Amtrak's North Coast Hiawatha at the Minneapolis Great Northern Station prior to its departure for Chicago. The train disappeared in 1979 during a Carter Administration cutback and the station was discontinued and torn down after Amtrak built a new station in the Midway district of the Twin Cities. That in turn was closed down when Amtrak moved to St. Paul Union Station.
