Lengthened Platform.
Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) PA-5 car no. 5694 (Kawasaki, 2008-2022) is the lead motor on a Hoboken-WTC train seen stopped at Exchange Place Station. Recent capital projects have lengthened stations on the Newark-WTC route, allowing trains on said route to operate 9-car trains, but the PATH system is heavily interlined and trains on other routes are unable to take advantage of this increased platform length. Hoboken-WTC trains are limited to 7 cars by the length of the platforms at Hoboken and Pavonia stations and by the switch where they diverge from the Newark-WTC route, which is within the platform at Exchange Place!
Two rapid transit lines, PATCO and PATH, take commuters to Philadelphia and New York, respectively. Metro North locomotives and rolling stock often show up on NJ Transit northern lines and SEPTA terminates routes in Trenton and West Trenton.
