Following the departure of the southbound Silver Star, the platform lights of the Cary Amtrak station illuminate the CSX rails which will now lie dormant until morning.

A local camera club is out on a field trip working on night exposures with the southbound Silver Star as the main event. Most folks seemed to have an enjoyable first time railfanning.

There are three things you can count on in life...death, taxes, and a late Amtrak. The Silver Star is running almost 2 hours late this morning.
