Road freight dieselization started on most railroads with the FT and the DL&W was no exception. Known as "the diesel that did it", FT's started arriving on the Lackawanna in April 1945, near the end of FT production. The last road sets, number 604 had expanded from three units to four when photographed at Pocono Summit, Pennsylvania on May 10, 1959. The 604 set, with the addition of the 602B unit, ran together for several years. Photo by Ken Douglas, from my collection.
