I've always said that rail fanning is 20 percent skill, 30 percent knowledge, and 50 percent luck. Well, today was nearly all luck. After having dinner in Peach Springs, my folks and I walked out of the restaurant to find a magnificent rainbow stretching over the town. Finding out that we had two eastbound trains at Valentine, we raced up Route 66. From there, I set up on top of a knoll off the side of the road. With rain still falling, a long San Pedro (West Basin), CA to Logistic Park Chicago, IL stack train made its way into town. I was luck to have a train so near, and this rainbow to stay showing for so long. Luck would come into play again as the train had two helper units shoving the rear of the train as they tackle the grade towards Yampai.
