A DWP transfer run heads southwest on BN trackage under the overpass that leads to the DMIR ore docks on Duluth's west end. The pair of GP38-2s are fairly recent arrivals to the property having started life as Rock Island units in bankruptcy blue, then acquired by Grand Trunk Western. They replaced aging Alco RS11s on the DWP, and soon would no longer ride these rails as DWP was almost finished with its new yard at Pokegama, WI on Missabe's Interstate Branch. They would close their long time hill side yard in West Duluth and interchange traffic with other carriers over in Wisconsin.
