Bethlehem Engine Terminal hosted its share of six-axle Alco Centuries in the pre-Conrail era. Besides the Lehigh Valley’s fleet of C628’s, which were resident power, Reading C630’s were also frequent visitors. After the formation of Conrail, the big Alcos all were sent west for ore service in Ohio. The largest of the Centuries, the C636, never regularly visited Bethlehem, but at least one broke free of its ore service to visit, as seen in this August, 1979 view.
