Remarks & Notes
A mile east of Horseshoe Curve, symbol freight NWC-1 is climbing the mountain with 25 loads of slabs on the head-end. First generation power was still prevalent as is the case with this nice set - a GP-9, F-7 and GP-9B. The trailing two units have been renumbered in anticipation of the Penn-Central merger - about the only thing that was successful about that ill-fated scheme. You can be sure the sound was impressive. On the rear of the train was a U25C, Century 628, U25C helper set.
