Ready to Go! N&W 1218 will shortly be towed out of the Roanoke Transportation Museum and then on to Birmingham Alabama to be overhauled. Sections of panel track have been laid into the museum from the Roanoke Belt Line. The Roanoke Transportation Museum was located in Wasena Park and six months from now would be under flood waters from the Roanoke River. Much of Roanoke was affected by the November 1985 flood. The museum collection was later moved to it’s present location downtown. It’s very fortunate that 1218 was moved when it was.
