The northbound Coast Starlight rolls along Grass Lake on a summer morning in 1995. The train is nearing the summit of Southern Pacific's crossing of the Southern Cascades. In about an hour, No. 14 will stop for passengers and a new crew at Klamath Falls, Oregon.
