Over two and a half years after Union Pacific acquired Southern Pacific, there was still a fair amount of SP power on the Shasta Route. Led by one of the 25 SD70Ms SP acquired in 1994, a southbound lumber drag arrives at Penoyar siding. In a few miles, the train will crest the Southern Cascades, and begin the long descent into the Sacramento River Canyon.
