The 1218 comes to Chicago and heads to Fort Wayne, IN on a railfan excursion. Many railfans greet the engine as it comes through the NS yard in Chicago.

A former UP GP40X wound up being rebuilt into a GP38-2. Here it is along with another rebuild, a GP20C, on a local heading west past tower B17.

It sure was nice to see this GP7 and GP9 combo in mainline service. This duo is heading west from Proviso. The signal bridges have since been replaced.

An SD60M and an SD60 shortly after exiting the Hermosa tunnels are heading towards Laramie.

UP GP40X as well as other locomotives get their maintenance performed here at the Bailey Yard locomotive facility.

A CNW C40-8 and SD60 along with a UP SD40-2 pull a train of gondolas through Dale Junction on Sherman Hill. Snow fences are common on Sherman Hill, placed to control snow drifts.

A couple of railfans enjoy watching the ICE train run past. Tower B17 is still in use as I think its days are numbered.

The 463 sits over the ash pit after dropping its fire. The loco was used on a Jim Trowbridge special that day. The ash pit has since been replaced.
